Porridge for Parkinson’s Emcee Extraordinaire

Jeanne Beker is an award-winning journalist, media personality, and fashion entrepreneur who has been a longtime supporter and emcee for Porridge for Parkinson’s. Her beloved mother, Bronia Beker, lived with Parkinson’s disease for many years, and we fondly remember her attending our brunch events. More recently, Jeanne has graciously shared her own journey with breast cancer through media interviews and social media, encouraging positivity and raising awareness.

Jeanne Beker began her career as the popular co-host of the ground-breaking Citytv series, The NewMusic, and went on to become the host of the internationally syndicated Fashion Television (FT), which aired for 27 years with viewers in more than 130 countries. She is an accomplished editor and author and has created numerous fashion lines, including her own label, Edit by Jeanne Beker. Jeanne is the recipient of many awards and was named to the Order of Canada in 2014.

This fall, Jeanne continues to host the popular series “Style Matters” for The Shopping Channel (TSC) and will also be starting a new monthly feature called “The New Age” on “Cityline”. We are thrilled that she is joining us as emcee once again.

Leanne Delap says, “Jeanne is a part of our communal pop culture consciousness” in her recent Toronto Star article Jeanne’s year of living intentionally

Jeanne shared a touching tribute to her mother, Bronia Breker, at Porridge for Parkinson’s 2015.
