Welcoming the Fifth Element jazz quintet

Porridge for Parkinson’s is delighted to welcome Fifth Element as our musical guest on November 12. Performing regularly since its formation in 2016, the jazz quintet is packing concert venues, including performances at the Jazz Lounge in Old Mill Toronto, The Jazz Room in Waterloo, Reid’s Distillery, and West End Jazz in Oakville.

Fifth Element breathes new life into the Great American Songbook and familiar jazz standards in live performance. Featuring vocalist Nina Richmond backed by Ron Johnston on bass, Jack Gelbloom on piano, Glenn Anderson on drums, and Dave Coules on tenor sax, the ensemble highlights the diversity of this music with arrangements that engage jazz fans at all levels. The energy, joy, and fun the band brings to each performance connects them with their audience.

In December of 2020, the quintet released their first album, Fifth Element. It was the winner of Best In Jazz Album at the 9th Annual OWMR Awards and named one of the top five vocal jazz albums of 2021 by Jim Dupuis of CFBX 92.5 FM, The X.
